Clarity on Eating Disorders
Treatment for Disordered Eating and Unhealthy Food Relationships.
Disordered eating patterns can range from mild to severe, but most people don’t realize the significant negative impact that eating disorders can have on a person’s physical and mental well-being. From low self-esteem and body image issues to a sense of loss of control, eating disorders are not just about food, which is why many people who lack education and understanding assume recovery consists of simply eating more or less. The negative effects eventually begin to interfere with relationships, academics, occupation, and the ability to function on a daily basis. While people generally think of eating disorders as categories (anorexia, bulimia, binge-eating), it is far more common for individuals to experience symptoms across all of these categories in the course of their illness. Identifying and treating problems early is always ideal – but it is NEVER too late.
HOW CAN WE HELP?
At Clarity Therapy, treatment is highly individualized and recovery goals are directed at long-term, sustainable change, not fast-paced quick fixes. If you suspect you or a loved one is struggling with restrictive eating patterns (which includes dieting and/or rigid ‘healthy’ eating), unusual behaviors, binge-eating, or over-exercising, consider scheduling an initial consultation – it could be the beginning step in regaining your life.
